The Best Time to Visit St. Croix, Month by Month

There is no bad month to be on St. Croix's East End — but there are different islands depending on when you come. Here's the honest calendar, so your week gets the island it's hoping for.

December – April: the prime

The classic Caribbean winter: afternoons around 83°F, the sea near 80°F, the trade winds steady and the rain mostly elsewhere. This is when the mainland's cold makes the contrast comic — and when the calendar stacks: the Crucian Christmas Festival spans late December into January, Agrifest lands mid-February, and Taste of St. Croix crowns the spring. It's also peak demand — the villa's winter weeks and the island's best boats and tables book earliest. May – early July: the value play

Crowds thin, rates ease, the sea warms toward the mid-80s, and the weather stays largely settled. Early summer is the connoisseur's window: same beaches, softer prices, and turtle nesting season in full swing (which is also why Sandy Point closes April 1). The one trade: the year's first tropical-wave rhythms begin, usually as brief, warm showers.

August – November: the honest stretch

Hurricane season peaks September–October, and we'd rather say it plainly than sell around it — the hurricane guide covers odds, insurance and how locals actually think about it. Most days are hot, green and gorgeous; the risk is real but occasional; travel insurance is the sane price of the season's quiet beaches and low rates. November shoulder weeks are often superb.
