Sunrise at Point Udall

Point Udall has a claim no other spot in the country can make: it's the easternmost point in the United States. That means the sun reaches it first — and it's minutes from the villa.

Why it's worth the early alarm

A sundial-like Millennium Monument marks the headland, set among dry forest and low cliffs with the Caribbean on three sides. There's nothing built up out here. Come for sunrise and you'll often have it to yourself, coffee in hand, watching the light come up over the water.

Make a morning of it

Point Udall is also the jumping-off point for the walk to Jack and Isaac Bay, so you can catch the sunrise and then hike down to an empty beach before the day warms up. Wear shoes you can walk in, and bring water.

And if the early alarm loses to the pillow, don't worry — The Cerulean faces east too. The sunrise over the villa's own beach is the reason guests keep writing that the mornings here are the best part.
