Why the water is calm

A reef sits just offshore, which does two things: it takes the punch out of the waves, so the water in front of the villa stays swimmable, and it gives fish somewhere to live. You don't need a boat or a guide to see them — you wade in and they're there.

The one thing to pack

Water shoes. The entry into the water is rocky before it opens up, and every happy review says the same thing:

Amazing snorkeling right in front of the house in the shallow water protected by the reef. Rocky entrance but water shoes do the trick.

Bring a pair (or ask us to have some on hand), and the rest is easy. Masks and basic beach gear are at the villa.

When to go

Mornings are usually calmest and clearest, before the afternoon breeze picks up. Go out, float around for an hour, and come back to the pool to warm up. If you want more, Jack's and Isaac's beaches are a five-minute drive, and a Buck Island reef trip is a short charter away.
