From Los Angeles, St. Croix is a full travel day — but a single connection does it. The cleanest routings fly LAX to Miami or Charlotte, then onto the nonstop for the last leg to the island; a red-eye east lets you land in the Caribbean by afternoon. Coast to coast plus the hop runs roughly eleven to fourteen hours in total, and it is all domestic — a REAL ID, no customs, no passport.

Southern California doesn't need a warm-up, so the draw is a different kind of water: a calm, reef-protected beach you can walk into, with snorkeling a few feet off the sand.
